European first grip fixing façade – Recyclable façade system with reclosable fastener fixation

S.ARCH International Conference on Architecture & Built Environment 2018
22.-24.05.2018, Venice, Italy

Exterior Insulation Finishing Systems (EIFS) has a gap in sustainability assessment of the entire life-cycle (including profitable separation, disposal and recycling) and positive recycling behavior of building components at the end of the period of use (recovery of resources). The aim of the research project facade4zeroWaste was the idea of a recyclable facade insulation system that can easily be dismantled after its lifetime and reused thanks to an innovative grip fixing system – Grip fixing instead of adhesive. The project facade4zeroWaste includes the development, architectural design relevance, grants of patents, results of pre-certification testing’s and the product publication. In January 2017 the façade system was presented from Sto SE & Co. KGaA Germany as the product StoSystain R on the building fair BAU 2017 in Munich. There the façade system was getting the prize: Innovation Award for Architecture and Building. The first 6 building projects with the StoSystain R system are realized already in year 2017 and 2018 and in the near future more objects with StoSystain are planned.
